Devlog #6: Pushing Forward
Hi everyone, once again we're glad to announce some new updates for our game. This time, we've been upgrading the gameplay mechanics such as the basic attack, skills, enemies, etc., alongside some minor updates to the UI.
Map
The map color has been changed from bright pink to a more comfortable-to-look-at purple, giving it the appearance that everything is happening at night.
Basic Attack
We've changed the sprite from an arrow to a fireball, considering that our character isn't planned to have a bow.
Enemy
Finally, we have our first enemy: a mysterious entity surrounding the castle, attempting to kill our protagonist.
Skills
Just as we've been announcing in most of our devlogs, we finally have all three skills available and fully functional to use :). Each skill also has different variants depending on the color selected: red (10% more damage), blue (freezes enemies for 4 seconds), and yellow (steals 10% of the damage dealt as health). To introduce the third skill, the first one is a beam in four directions (up, down, right, left), the second one is an explosion which also features a new sprite, and finally, our third skill creates five fireballs in random directions around the player.
Skill 2 freezing enemies (blue)
Skill 3 with lifesteal (yellow)
Lastly, we invite you all to keep looking forward to this project, as every little update we make is aimed at achieving bigger results. Additionally, we are not finished with everything we would like to add to this game. For the next devlog, we expect to include music and SFX, polish the user interface, introduce even more enemies, and most importantly, create a sprite for the player. Stay tuned for the next one!
